Up one tree and down another
Chasing and giggling
Almost maniacal in their glee.
Then fighting and scrabbling
Pulling a tail and scratching a face
One whimpering and crawling away
Each squabble a different winner.
Plotting and planning
Building and rearranging
Each fort or base more elaborate
Than the last.
Then out and about again
Under foot, over table
Around the corner
Up the walls.
Trying to get anything done
Around this age and season
Is pretty much akin
To chasing squirrels.
