Trying something new

I took a page out of my mom's book and decided to try a watercolor master copy class this summer. It was super hard and a way more advanced class than I anticipated, especially considering my lack of experience. Still, taking a 3-hour class five times was a learning opportunity and I was glad I did it. Am I going to continue? I don't know.

Our first assignment was a portrait. Yikes.

I had to paint the portrait upside down. So if you turn your computer/phone upside down to look at this, it doesn't look too bad haha.

Imitating an oil painting with watercolor was hard, esp with all the colors.

I enjoyed the landscape attempt more.

This one was especially hard because I was supposed to imitate John Singer Sargent, one of the most famous watercolor painters. His work is so amazing.

And this was my last piece, unfinished--I skipped the sixth and final class because we had too much going on, but maybe I'll finish it. Basically I was proud that I didn't quit the class after the first day, which I was sorely tempted to do.
